About Drew Rabidoux
Hello! My name is Drew. I enjoy traveling and cooking in my spare time. I love to go out for brunch and karaoke with friends. My favorite books to read are by courageous and real female authors like Glennon Doyle. “Untamed” is my favorite book of all time because it is so raw and true. I’m always game for a last-minute road trip with my family.
This is the part of my website where I could get heavy in the clinical jargon, but I will just be upfront with you. I am trained and available to help. I have been a single woman in NYC, I know how difficult that can be. I have experienced failed relationships and my own therapy has provided immense support to me and I believe that it works. I became a mother 13 years ago and know how hard it is to maintain your own identity and remember who you are, besides someone’s mom.
I have worked in high-pressure and high-powered jobs and I’ve also lived abroad volunteering with the Peace Corps. All this to say, my experience might be different than yours, but I am a real person and not just someone that is going to analyze and tell you what to do. If my experience can help save you some of the misery, I am happy to help but in the end, the journey is yours.
I incorporate humor into the therapy session at times. I can laugh at myself and support you when you do not feel like laughing. Some clients have said that I have the memory of an elephant. I will typically remember the name of your best friend from elementary school and how you felt when you had a fight with your mom a year ago. I do not remember just because I have a good memory, it’s because I am interested in your story and what makes you who you are. Part of being interested in your story is getting to know you. That also makes it easier for me to see your BS from a mile away and I am the type of therapist who is going to call you on it. The only thing you get from sugar coating is a toothache. No toothaches here.
I love working with women who feel stuck but need help finding out why. After my own experience of feeling like a powerhouse in my work life but stuck and overwhelmed in my personal one, I realized I needed to focus on myself. I had developed so many rules in my life that were stifling my enjoyment of actually living it. I know what it is like to not know what you enjoy anymore because you’ve been paying so much attention to everyone else and what makes them happy instead. I know what it’s like to feel cursed because you’re attracting the wrong partners. Maybe you think you are destined to be single forever, or worse… settling with the wrong person. Maybe you feel like you’re so confused you don’t know where to start, yet here you are….starting.
I know what it’s like to juggle marriage, motherhood, work-life, and still find time to do things that make you happy. And I know that is not easy or perfect all of the time. I know that self-care is not the only cure.
This is the right place and I can help you. Life can be happy, fulfilling, and enjoyable again.
I attended the University of Vermont for my BSW and Yeshiva University for my MSW. I have been working over half of my life in social service agencies, hospitals, non-profit organizations, and start-up companies. I’m excited to help fellow women heal and live their lives in a way that honors their authentic selves.
