Anxiety Counseling
Anxiety Support and Therapy
Did you know that NYC is anxiety capital of the world? Seriously, if you did not have anxiety before you came here, you might after being here a while. We move at warp speed, jobs demand more from us, and you have to be on guard. It’s an anxiety provoking place. And particularly now after the pandemic, all of the reasons you probably moved to the city (restaurants, theater, nightlife, etc) are all so different. You might feel out of practice or overwhelmed and it is causing you to feel anxious.
I totally get it.
Anxiety is defined by some key symptoms:
Feeling nervous, anxious, or on edge
Not able to stop or control worrying
Worrying too much about many different things
Trouble relaxing
Finding it hard to sit still
Feeling easily annoyed or irritable
Feeling that something bad is going to happen
Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are scary. You feel out of breath, perhaps some chest pain, or the feeling that you are going to die. You may have been able to talk yourself out of them at some point, but now you live in fear that another one is around the corner and it has you worried. They come on with no warning or reason and you don’t understand why they are happening.
A lot of people have panic attacks. You are not alone. I will give you tools to use when you find yourself getting a panic attack or if you are already in one. It’s important that you are open to try something different and are committed to living a more balanced life with fewer panic attacks (if any). We will talk about your fears and see what works for you.
Insomnia
Did you know anxiety and insomnia go hand in hand? Do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? How could you possibly sleep if you are thinking about all the things you have to do, are regretful for doing or not doing, or stressing about things that are out of your control. This is common and you are not alone.
Insomnia does not have to last forever. Some of my clients find that they can sleep much better at night because of tools they have learned in therapy or just merely by sharing things that are bothering them during our therapy sessions. Sometimes all you need is to speak to someone who is trained to support you and help you get to the bottom of what is bothering you so that you can address it and get some shut-eye.
Worry
Just when you think you can relax, another concern comes in that you need to worry about and it prevents you from enjoying where you are or what you are doing. That stinks. You could enjoy life so much more if you actually paid attention to it, but it is really hard to do when you are consumed with worry.
I understand and I can help you. We will pick your worries apart and see where the root is so that you can do something about it and enjoy your life. You do not have to do this alone and I am here to help you.
